I am hoping to resume everything in March or so. Due to the new weight restrictions being put out by the CCAA, I don't have a choice. I am hoping to lose enough weight to get under the marker and start up again.

My agency and I are working towards the March goal! In the meantime, I am going to have to live thru all of you!!!!!

I can't wait to start up again. For those of you that are concerned about your weight, please don't be. They are only concerned about the really overweight people. I happen to be one of them. It's my own fault. I just wish this wasn't the way things had to be.

I'm sorry you will have to put things on hold. Do you know if this is a new policy that is already in effect? What are the guidelines? Are they similar to Korea's 30% overweight rule? I'm a little overweight right now (still haven't lost my pregnancy weight) but I qualify for Korea so I guess I must still qualify for China, right? My agency hasn't said anything about a weight restriction.

For what country? I have heard rumors about China imposing a weight rule but as of now its just that, a rumor. I know Korea has a weight rule but that has been pretty long standing and your agency should have told you upfront about it.

Trenton did my documents in 2 days the first time i sent some, and the second time when i sent the remainder of our documents they were processed same day. I used fed ex and got them back overnight.

My agency specifically called me to discuss this. They have only just been made aware of the weight restrictions. Trust me, you must be very overweight to have any issues. Please don't fret! I have known this for a few days, but didn't want to mention it because people worry needlessly. After being so sick over this and crying like crazy, I didn't want to inflict this on anyone else.

All I can say is this is NOT a rumor. If you have not gotten the call, count your blessings!

Please please please call around to other agencies before you do this!! There is something about this that just does not sit right with me. I have called and talked to my agency and had other friends call and talk to theirs as well. Everyone is saying this is a recycled rumour that comes up every 2-3 years and there is no validity in this...what there is validity in is the potential that this is size discrimination by your agency. If they see an opportunity to take advantage of your size in order to make way for others (if they are overloaded right now) or to have you wait so they can collect more fees for repeated homestudies etc. then you are being taken advantage of by them. Please call around and ask other agencies what they have heard. If you do find this is an agency problem rather than a China problem there are organizations designed to help overweight people fight discrimination. The most active of which is NAAFA. (The National Association to Aid in Fat Acceptance) Do not give up...get more informed!!

Exaclty what did your agency say the restriction or cut off is? How do they determine who this applies to? Someone 10% over weight, someone 30% overweight, a certain BMI?

How brave of you to come on this forum and offer information about something so personal.

I am so sorry that you have to put this special part of your life on hold, and my heart hurts for the frustration and pain you must be feeling.

I am so proud of your determination to get everything back on track. When you said, "It's my own fault," I worry that you might take on the burden of not only your weight gain, but also of anything else that might go wrong in the meantime. As you focus on losing weight, find support and take any help that is offered. Don't hesitate to speak to someone in a counseling setting--it can only help. It's important for you to realize that you have not sabotaged this process or ruined anything; rather, please look at it as what it is... a set-back.

Again, I am so proud of you and will keep you in my thoughts. You are a strong person--you have to be to consider being a parent!--and I know you can do this.

Can you give us some more details? I am about 40 lbs overweight and Dh is about 100 lbs overweight. We are both actively working on this (going to weight watchers and working out) but what did your agency say?

PS- WW is the easiest thing I've done in the losing weight scheme....

I asked my agency straight out if this was a CCAA rule or an agency rule. They said they would in no way make this "their" rule. I trust my agency, they have been very good so far. I am sure they don't like it either!

Think about it, if you can't adopt, you can't pay them their fees!

The thing is I am overweight. WAY overweight. I need to do something about it. Maybe this is some divine intervention!

I believe that more about the weight thing will come out as time goes on. There is a lot of waffling about it supposedly.

Thanks to those that shared very kind words. This wasn't easy to discuss for me. It's very personal and embarrassing. Needless to say the last week hasn't been one of my best.

Hit send too quick. I meant to say that I am on WW. I love their program. I have done well on their program. When I quit smoking and got involved in infertility drugs, my weight went wacko and I haven't paid it an ounce of attention!
