Hello Niccum, I am so sorry to hear of your news. THis whole process is such an emotional roller coaster. I think that we are using the same agency as you and if so, they are a very reputable agency that I also trust. You may not be at a place to consider this yet, but have you considered any other programs? We are currently working on our homestudy and are really stuck because we can't make a decision to go with China or Ethiopia. The increased wait time with China has me a bit freaked out lately and the three month waits for Ethiopia sound wonderful! My husband isn't convinced and wants to stick with China. I guess we all have to go with what our hearts tell us, but wasn't sure if you had given the thought any consideration. I hope you don't mind the suggestion. I figure we'll all find our children eventually, we just don't know where they are or when it will happen.

Marjorie

Red face

Niccum,
I Just Wanted To Tell You That You Are In My Prayers. I To Am Very Over Weight (about 90-95 Lbs)
And I Have Been Stressing Over This Too. I Called Our Agency (chi) And Was Told That This Is A Rumor And Not To Worry. I Told Thim That More Than One Person Has Been Told This And She Said She Would Look In To This. It Would Be Helpful If I Could Know Who Your Agency Is. What Is The % 10 Or 30 Lbs With In Your Ideal Body Weight. I Need To Know So I Have A Goal To Reach.
Keep Your Head Up And Don't Give Up. If You Need To Talk Just Pm Me And We Can Chat. I Believe That God Has A Plan And He Also Knows That A Child Is More Insentive Than Any Thing In This World. This May Be His Way Of Saying That Our Daughters Are Not Born Yet. God Bless You

I just wanted to share with you that there is a thread on these forums that has been discussing weight loss and our progress over the last year. Anyone is welcome to join. I don't know how to make a link, but it is called something like "Attention all Dieters:..." if anyone is interested in searching for it.

Wow, I had no idea so many people were on weight watchers. My husband and I are on the program too and it's been amazing. My husband is still thinking of getting gastic bypass surgery because he is severly overweight. We are still talking about that though.

I just have to echo drmalcom and applaud you for your courage to share this issue with us. My weight also went a little wacky with fertility drugs and I have a pituitary problem as well so diets have not been effective for me. I hope that you find a solution to this temporary (and I do meantemporary )setback.
Good Luck

On a lighter note (no pun intended)....

Here are my tips on how to look skinny (speaking as an experienced Chubby Girl):
In photos...
1. stand behind someone who is chubbier, and of course stand at an angle (never face straight on and God forbid, NEVER from the back!)

2. Find a comfortable pose where a hand is under your chin, cleverly consealing any and all double chins. When you get too many pictures in this pose and people start to wonder....hmmm.... wear a turtle neck with the neck stretched waaaay up (I used this trick on my dossier photos!)

3. Always have the camera angled above you, never ever be shot from below. This can shave off any remaining chins not handled by trick number 2.

4. Volumn.... I take a lot of photos and only use a small portion. It's amazing how many people tell me I'm photogenic because they have never seen the 22 horrible photos of me on the roll but instead have the 2 OK ones highlighted. This is a lot easier now with digital.

In general...
5. weigh your clothes when going to the doctor- the wrong outfit can add at least 7 pounds, and every pound counts!

6. smile and be confident. Allow people to focus on something else.

These won't change any CCAA rumors or guidlines but it could make the whole family Christmas portrait more enjoyable (HaHA)! Sometimes when you want to cry you just have to laugh and keep your chin up (but well covered with a turtle neck!!!)

Angry Details?

Does a anyone have ANY details on the exact restrictions that are being mentioned in this thread? I can't get a straight answer from our agency either... I was just told that the CCAA has a meeting on 12/12.

An exact weight? BMI? A percentage over? What are the numbers? Etc.etc? I am also one of those whose weight has gone wacko since the fertility treatments and haven't been able to loose any since they put me on Metformin - like they said I should.

THANKS!

GRK

Niccum I am so sorry for the pain you are going through right now. I know this adoption process has been full of ups and downs for you from the start. Thank you so much for sharing your information with all of us.
I do not mean to stick my nose in your business but when you said very overweight exactly what do you mean? 50, 100, 200 plus pounds? I am overweight myself but with no medical problems except now this is making me sick! Also could you please post your agency's name or PM me with the info because I contacted my agency and was told all of this is a rumor. Would one agency have information that others don't have? The agency we are with does only China adoptions so I would think they should know what is going on.
I wish you the best and take care.

Niccuum- I am sorry you are going through this. It seems like you have had a rough road. I do hope that it will only turn more positive for you. Your positive words about losing weight- should carry you forward as you begin a new goal- as you continue on your journey to bring home your child. The road is certainly windy- but your ultimate goal is still there at the end- and I have no doubt that you will meet with success and your child will be home with you in the future. Good luck! I certainly admire your strength.

Jennifer

Finally, someone else can confirm what I have heard. YAY. Thanks Coat!!!!! I keep telling people that I am not lying or misinformed, but people are really questioning me.

Do you know how devastating this news has been to my husband and to me? I would never, ever tell anyone on this board anything that I didn't check out. Even my husband who doesn't get being on boards, said to not say anything.

It took me, like I said before, a little while to get on here and share. I didn't want to alarm anyone and yet I had to find a way to let people know!

Thanks for all the kind words. I am going to continue to be on this board

Niccum,
I did not mean to sound like I was questioning you by saying my agency says this is a rumor. If that is how I came off I am sorry. It just had me wondering and worrying that if my agency does not know this yet then what is wrong with my agency! Again I am sorry if I came across as doubting you.

Niccum,

I would find a different agency if you arent too invested in the one you have now. Maybe you (and I) will be "grandfathered" once we are DTC.

CCAA is holding a meeting tomorrow with all in-country adoption reps. I contacted our agency and they are going to have their rep ask specifically about the wait and the weight. When I find out, I'll pass it on to y'all.
