Red face Wishes & Prayers Welcomed...

Hello all. This is our first post. My husband and I are preparing to enter into the world of adoption where we hope to find a little bundle of our very own.

We will have many questions and would love a chance to get to meet each and everyone of you. We hope to learn much from you and your experiences.

My husband introduced me, his OCD wife, to this wonderful blog in hopes of showing me that I am not alone in my quest to quell my fears and search for answers.

I can guarantee that any advice you offer will be most welcomed and any stories you share most relished. We are eager to begin our journey into parenthood and welcome you along for support.

Good luck to all the future mommys and daddys out there. Our hopes are with you as we hope your prayers are with us.

Hi & Welcome. This is a great site, don't be afraid to post questions. There is a lot of experience on here as many of us are at different steps in the process (just starting, paperwork chase, paper pregnant, home with beautiful babies from China) Good Luck with your journey

We are at the very beginning of this. After finding out that I was unable to bare children of my own, I went through all of the stages of grieving. It was my husband who first broached the subject of adoption. I find it humorous that I was the one who had been set on him being the father of my children and he ended up being the one to show me that even through adoption he would still hold that title.

After a lot of soul searching we both agreed that adoption would be the best choice for us. How better to share our love than with a child who is out in the world waiting for a home and a family to devote themselves to her?

So here we are, one laid back loving, husband and me the OCD pulling up websites, trying to get other couples input on where to go and who to see. We are eager to get the paperwork started, but I feel that we owe it to ourselves and our future child to be as studied and prepared as possible.

As long winded as that was, I did want to thank you for responding. I hope to hear more from you soon.

Thank you for your welcome and congratulations to you on completing your first home study. I think of all the reading I have been doing, the home study is the one thing that most people are concerned about.

We are just starting to get a listing of all of the reputable agencies and I am working on creating a checklist of all of the forms and documents that we will need to get the ball rolling. I would welcome any pointers or advice you might have on this.

I would also love to hear about your experiences. I think it would give us a feel for what lies ahead.

No need to be concerned about the home study. I'm sure it depends on the social worker who does it, but ours was SO laid back. It was really just a nice conversation around the kitchen table. Our then 4 1/2 year old took her around the house, but that wasn't a big deal either. She didn't open closets or look closely to see how clean anything was. Basically if you tidy up and do a general clean, and then are honest and open about yourself, it will go fine. God bless you as you begin your journey!!!
