Hi there maureen3770,
Do a member search for Tsmom, as she has mentioned in other posts that she is adopting a waiting child from JOTH. I believe she has a blog attached to her signature, so she may offer an email that gets checked more often than her PMs here. I think I remember reading a recent link that they were getting ready to go to China, though, so she may be there now.

Wow, what a great thing for you to do by volunteering in China!

I just watched a movie the other night that is based on a collection of true stories from Operation Smile (the movie itself is called "Smile," and it stars the same actress who played Young An-Mei in "Joy Luck Club").

Anyway, I wish you the best of luck in your adoption. I can't help you out with any Singles questions, but I sure can commiserate with you on those bills that need to be paid. We just said good-bye to a plumber who thankfully solved the problem of a septic tank that backed up into our bathtub... but he was here less than a half hour and we are out $225!

Anyway, have a great trip in November!
