I am a thirty year old single woman who would like to adopt in 2 - 3 years. I have been doing as much research online as possible lately. I feel that adoption from China is for me. But I have read on several web sites that only 8% of the adoptions are available for singles. Knowing this, when should I start the process? What should I expect? How hard will the process be as a single? What agencies do you recommend me to use? Any good literature recommedations?

I would get myself on a waiting list RIGHT NOW! Single slots get taken very fast and they wait to get a spot can be 2 years!! There is also the Waiting Child program which does not have a list. I am going through this program. WC is where children have mild correctable or already corrected medical needs. Some children have something simple and cosmectic like a birth mark to cleft lip and or palates. If you would like more info please PM me. The wait is usually longer for singles due to the 8% quota so singles are signing up on more than one agency's waiting lists. Other than the wait and perhaps a few more pieces of paperwork, the process is not any harder.
