What to Pack

My husband and I just got back from our stay in China getting our little girl Mira. If you want to see pics, go to www.waitformiralin.blogspot.com. I thought I would pass along some things to pack since I just got back. I packed way too much of some things and way not enough of others. We stayed a total of 13 days. I hope this helps. If anyone has any other questions, please feel free to PM me. Here's my list:

For Baby:
40 diapers (Wal-Marts are everywhere if you need more)
1 box of wipes (again - WalMart)
10-15 outfits (China has CUTE outfits and shoes CHEAP)
Baby Bath
Beach Ball (easy to pack and Mira loved it)
Baby kit (fingernail clippers, snot sucker, comb, etc.)
Disposable bibs (Bibsters - very convenient)
4-5 Regular Bibs
Cheerios
Bath towel
4 washcloths (threw away after a few uses)
Toys (stacking cups, rattle toys, chew toys, etc.)
6-8 pairs of socks
3 Bottles
Bottle Washer
Dishwashing Liquid (Put Bottle in a ziploc bag)
Ziploc bags (Freezer size holds anything)
Bathing Suit
Tissues
Infant Tylenol, Gas Drops, Benadryl, Orajel, Laxative Drops.

For adults:
Comfort Foods (Trail Mix, Chocolate, crackers)
5 pairs of pants or shorts or combo (check weather)
8 shirts
underwear for everyday (lol)
adaptor
(I didn't take shampoo or hair dryer because all hotels have them)
Cold medicine, aspirin, immodium, sleeping aids

If you have any questions, PM me!

Glad y'all made it back! Congrats! I've met several people from the same agency that are keeping in touch so it's great. Can't wait to meet them and to travel!

Thanks

Thanks for the list. I am not even DTC yet, but I am already looking at what to pack.
She is so beautiful. I am also happy that you are comfortable having others aroun her right after you get home. I know a fort will not keep our frineds and family away when we get home.

some additions to the packing list

I'm in China now. My beautiful, precious bundle is taking her nap.

This is a great list. And I have a few additions.

For baby:
First and foremost, don't forget the prunes for the baby. I brought four Gerber containers and they were like liquid gold the first couple of days post Gotcha. All eight of the babes in our group were constipated and the prunes worked wonders. I would suggest 6 or 8 containers. If you don't use them all, you will make fast friends with other families who need them.

Also instead (or in addition to) cheerios, I suggest Gerber fruit puffs. They are softer than cheerios and flavored with natural fruit juice. My little girls did not go for the cheerios, but loves the fruit puffs. This is another item I've been sharing with other families.

And, I wish I had brought disposable changing pads. Luckily I did not need them yet while on the road. However, other familes had to change dirty diapers on the bus, and were lucky to have them. I wish I would have brought them.

For me:
I wish I had more skirts. It was quite hot in Nanning (Guangxi province) and skirts were perfect. I only brought two but would recommend 3 or 4 if you like wearing skirts.

That's it for now.

This is the best experience of my life!! All the best to everyone still waiting.

A friend and I are collecting packing lists for a Yahoo group that we moderate. Would you mind if I add your list to what we have?

Thanks,
Dusty

Can anyone tell me exactly what electrical adapter to buy for China and what website it can be ordered from. My husband and I need to be able to charge our video camera, digital camera, computer, and cell phones.

Is there a reason you packed a bathing suit for Mira but not for yourself?

Also FYI, I love the dispos. dishwashing rags- just an alternative to bringing liquid dish soap.

Did you find you needed duct tape or some of the other more unusual items suggested on other packing lists?
