New China Book

I just finished this book and could not put it down. It is the only book that I know of that details life in a Chinese orphange (recently, anyway). It will leave you with mixed emotions and help understand some of the behaviors our children come to us with. Highly recommended.

Silent Tears: A Journey of Hope In A Chinese Orphanage, by Kay Bratt.

Yes, I read that book about 2-3 weeks ago, and it was the hardest read of my life. But I am glad that I read it, as I feel it is important to know the conditions in orphanages in China. I know not all orphanages are like that, and our DD is from a Half the Sky orphanage and it seems that her care was quite good - but you only know as much as you are told. So you just never know. These kids are so resilient and amazing, though. The book was really sad at times, but also inspiring at other times.
