Wait time:what to do to pass the time
Hi Everyone:
I am just curious about what kinds of things you have done to pass the 6-7 month wait. For me it seemed easier to be running around trying to get paperwork done. Now that it is submitted to China and the wait has begun...I feel like the time will drive me crazy. What have some of you done to help the time go by? Michele DTC - 6/24 LID - 7/18 |

Hi Michele,
I'm still waiting on 30, but I imagine that some of the things you can do are: Create a lifebook Create a web site for your daughter Prepare the nursery Go shopping! Learn Mandarin Get a packing list ready for your trip Talk to other parents in your DTC group Have your friends/family throw you a baby shower |

Hi Michele! I agree that the wait is horrendous! I purposefully did not start making a nursery until we got our LID (12/29). I knew I would slowly go insane "patiently" waiting. I went and registered at Babies R Us and Target, which was EXTREMELY fun. That could take several days if you register for enough stuff. I registered for about 15 pages worth because my husband and I both come from huge families and they have been chomping at the bit wanting to buy things. I window shopped for clothes a lot. I have bought a few things to put in her closet but not a lot because I don't know how big she will be. I am waiting for the bio information. Finally I started putting her nursery together. I found that doing small things on a weekly basis has helped to keep me sane and it has also made me feel closer to baby Mira (that I don't have yet!). In a way, its like being pregnant and doing all the preparations is sort of cathartic. Another thing that has helped a lot lately is reading all of these posts on this site and reading about others in the same boat as us. My husband and I should be getting our photo and referral information next week so our long wait is almost over. I hope yours goes quickly and I hope I have given you some ideas.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. That web site was especially fun. It was just so much easier to deal with while I was running around filling out forms...The waiting will be much more difficult.
We did not start on the nursery on prupose, so that it would give us something to do during this time, but I like the idea of working on small projects for her like you suggested so that I feel like I am getting ready. Thanks everyone! Michele |
