Hi, Oct. referrals just hit. We asked for either a boy or a girl, with a slight preference for a boy - and got a beautiful little girl. Our LID was Oct. 14. Anyway, she is 8 months old, much younger than we expected. My husband is 55 and I am 45! Oh well, you will see her picture, and others, on the China Connections website for Oct. referrals.

Congrats! My sw called me today and gave me an update on referrals. The agency I am using Also got their referrals today too. They did have one boy. The age of the girls average from 8 months to 1 1/2. So it seems 6 months is the magic number. Well, Good luck with your travel plans.
We are waiting for the referral too. only 5 months to go but who is counting!

Hi and Congratulations Cynthia, I am only one month behind you, so this makes a new referral extra exciting. I always like hearing about people adopting a little later in life. I am 46 and my husband is 49. This will be our first child! I think what make us even a little more unusual is that we've been married 27 years. Again, Congratulations. I'll have to look for that board where we can see pictures. JOY

Congratulations that is such great news. My acency hasn't found out when my LID is exactly,but they did say that it would be sometime in March,since our dossiar was sent over the end of Feb. So hopefully the refferals stay at six months,and we only have five to go.

congrats! Did you request an age group? Or did you leave that open? Im shocked that you got a child so young with your ages. Im 43 and DH is 37 he wants a toddler. I really dont care, but we requested 18-28 months....seems odd that with all the older toddlers that are still in need of loving homes that they would refer a child so young. lol we were told by our agency that we should prepare for a younger child simply because neither of us are 45 or older.

In response to your question, we requested a child 24 mths or younger never dreaming we would get a child so young. Why? I don't know, perhaps it was our income or net worth??? Guess they figured if anything happened to both of us at our old age, she will have plenty of financial resources to prosper. Anyway, I'm not complaining. Developmentally, it is a great age for the acquisition of a new language. Regardless of age, toddler or infant, they all need homes.

hmm ok, maybe that's it, you hadn't requested a lower age limit. Still seems odd, with your ages...but MANY congrats! You must be estatic to finally be able to match a face to the feeling. Im preparing for anything, becuase neither of us are 45 yet. I can definitely see the positive aspects of getting an 8-9 month old. It really is a great age to start bonding.
