The Simpsons...Selma adopts from China!!
Hey all,
Sorry for the late notice...it's Sunday night (April 17) and on the Simpsons Selma will be adopting from China. I just wanted to let people know in case they were interested, and start a thread in case anyone wanted to chat about it. I read at the beginning of the year they were going to do a China Adoption episode and thought we missed it. Still almost did!! Gonna run so I can catch it! |

It's a rerun so now ugh I've missed the beginning twice. I saw the end of it last time and can't say that I was thrilled. Let us know!

Well...I saw it. And I admit, I laughed. But it really painted the Chinese government and American birthparents in a not so nice light.(It also implied that the babies are purchased.) So if you take it in the tongue in cheek manner in which it was delivered it was funny...but if you look at it at face value it was a not so nice depiction of adoption stereotypes. It's the Simpsons so hopefully people won't take it too seriously, but the sad fact is, unfortunately, some people will take it to heart.

I actually think that someone involved in the making of the Simpsons adopted from China, or they wouldn't have referred to some of the things they did. I also think that it is to the extreme, just like all of Simpsons are. If I couldnt laugh at some of these things in their extreme form, then my skin would be way too thin for this adoption. I think it was funny...in a Simpsons funny kind of way.
