From last homestudy visit to having the homestudy completed is really going to vary from agency to agency and even from SW to SW. It took us 3 days to get our completed homestudy after our final visit...I think we got ours fast though because our SW was being let go due to budget cuts in the program. We had our Homestudy completed in second week of September and we had fingerprinting the last week of September. We had our I171 H form to us by the second week of November. We had holidays get in the way but should have been DTC on Dec. 23. Due to an error made by my agency we were DTC on Jan. 7. and Logged in on Jan. 27. (Which grouped us, most likely, with the February referals.)
Hope this helps. |

To me this is taking forever. I wanted to be DTC in March and now it looks like it will be mid April. I hope that this helps.

Our first homestudy visit was 5/19/04. We were DTC 10/21/04. We had a few setbacks that, in hindsight, probably cost us 4-6 weeks. Hope this helps!

I have to agree with Lissa - it will vary so much depending on your SW, agency, sos offices, etc. For instance, our homestudy was moving along and we had to put it on hold 1/2 thru. Once we picked up again, our sw had taken on other families who were further along in the process. So even though she finished our h.s. visits, it took another month for our h.s. report to be completed. Then, depending on how long the review of your h.s. takes, that could delay things too (remember, you have to get this state and consulate authenticated) and it has to go to the USCIS office in order to get your I-171H. We were fortunate to have a very quick USCIS office - but that varies greatly from state to state.
Definitely have a goal in mind b/c that will push you to get what you need to get done done. But keep in mind that much of it is out of our control (which is so hard!!). Good luck with everything!! Susan dossier mailed to china - 3/25 waiting for LID |

I appreciate everyones input, if you look at my homestudy visit post which was horrible we are just anxious about this, somewhat anyhow. I had to have a peace about this but curious how long is too long. I know it seems like forever and I have to keep focused on the end, Bringing my daughter home. So I guess 4 weeks is not that long but seems forever not to hear anything. Thanks for listening
