I wish this book existed...
My SW suggested we read "What to Expect The First Year" to learn about what developmental stage our daughter will be at when we get her. She said to look at our daughter's age, then subtract 3 months, for a realistic view of what stage she'll be at when we take her home.
I bought the book and there is SO much info that is useless to me (breastfeeding, etc.) b/c the book is geared toward biological parents. I wish a book existed that had the developmental stages broken out by month, but was geared specifically toward adoptive families. I guess it's just a matter of time. |

I haven't read it, but I think there's a book called "What size shoes does she wear?" that is geared toward adopting a toddler. I didn't hear of it until after we brough our daughter home.

Actually, the more I think about it this book would be a tough one to write. Who is to say what developmental level a child will/should be at - so much would be dependent on how the first months of the life were spent. Oh well -- back to "What to Expect The First Year."
