Has anyone heard of mother/daughter bracelets made of jade (has to do with Chinese tradition)? Someone mention it to me and I would be interested in getting them. I know we can't suggest retailers on this forum but please feel free to PM me if you know someplace where they can be purchased. Thanks

I know a website store that carries wonderful items from China along with Chinese educational toys, jewelry (including mother and daughter bracelets), but I'm not sure whether they come in jade ... I recall gold and silver, and other red stones, but it's been awhile since I've shopped there. I'll PM you with the site.

If you go to Beijing, you will most likely be taken to gov't-run stores that sell jade, pearl, cloisonne' items. They guarantee that their value is good, and the items genuine (unlike other places that you can "get took"). We went to a jade store that had all grades of jade and jade items, including the mother-daughter bracelets. They are bands of jade, and you can get them in many shades of green (paler=less expensive). BTW, the colors deepen with age and wear. The tradition is that the mother wears it and then passes it on to her daughter. Often it comes from *her* mother or grandmother. Our guide told us they only increase in value, and antique jade bracelets are very, very valuable.
