We're Home!

Some of you may remember I posted our Olivia's referral pictures back in November. Well we are home a week yesterday from China with our little Olivia. She is perfect.

China was alittle rough because I got bronchitis about two days after we got Olivia. I was really, really sick. My dh really took over and became superdad when we were there.

Gotcha day was unbelievable. As we all stood looking at the orphanage staff holding the babies I broke down. But they when they handed Olivia to us and she was so happy and chipper I just couldn't cry. I kept thinking that she is so happy and what will she think if she sees me crying. With a minute she was laughing and blowing rasberries at her new daddy. We were both able to hold her and, like sometimes happens, she didn't just take to one parent. There was no 3 days of constant crying like I had heard could happen. She is an amazing child.

Last night while we were watching the Eagles game (we are going to the Super Bowl--Yipppee) I sat on my sofa, a foot of new snow outside, and looked down on the TV room floor. There was Olivia and her daddy laying curled up in a blanket together in front of the TV sound asleep (I am the only Eagles fan in the house). I knew right then and there that is doesn't get any better than this. Everyday she does something new that amazes me. She is loving and playful and loves her new home and her new family. She loves her two little kitties (they are still up in the air alittle about her).

I never thought I would be so happy. Being a new mother has put a whole new prospective in my life. Its so wonderful. For all of those who are in the paperchase or in the wait--my heart is melting for you knowing the wonderful experience you have ahead of you. I can't wait till you all celebrate your gotcha day because a part of me will be there with you. I am so excited for you all.

Please email me if you ever need any help at all and remember to share your stories also.

Hugs,
Tara
Dh John

Tara - congratulations on your addition! I cried when I read your post been so anxious over the process I am glad to hear about the joy - when the process is over. I'm not a football fan (at all) though my DH is and although NY is out of it - we couldn't be happier for the Eagles!! Congrats again - love her name!!

See ya in Jacksonville!
Missy

Tell us more

Oh please, tell us more! You know, all to well, the many questions we have. Tell us about the travel, what you wish would have brought and what you should have left befind. Tell us about your daughter, her personlaity, her care prior to you ... oh, tell us more! Lori

Congratulations on your new addition!

I am soooooooooooooo happy for you!
Reading your post makes me long even more for our gotchaday in the future, most likely 2008.. (I hate waiting for the magic 30)
Thank you so much for sharing. I hope everybody who get referrals and who return from China post some of their pictures. It makes the rest of us more convinced that there is an end to all the waiting...

Good luck as a new mum!
