My husband and I adopted our now 19-month old son from Russia and are just getting started researching our next adoption. We are interested in adopting from China and are wondering which agency to use and how long the entire process is currently taking.

We are considering using Great Wall China Adoption Agency. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with this agency?

The length of time to get your dossier together varies from family to family. It took us (and we were slow) 6 months to get our dossier together. Part of our slowdown was due to my work. I had to leave the lower 48 for Alaska for 2 months (i've been handling all the paperwork so the process came to a grinding halt during that 2 months)--so it's very possible you could get through your dossier much faster than us. Once the dossier is submitted wait time for a referal is 5-6 months...look more towards 6--but thats way better than the 14 months it was taking just a year or so ago. Once you have your referal it takes about 6-8 weeks to travel. You will be in China for 10-14 days. I am a waiting parent--all our paperwork was submitted to China January 7th so I haven't gone through referal pocess etc. yet. Thusfar it's been a pretty easy striaghtforward. No major worries. I did not use GWCA so cannot comment on them.
