Anybody from Southern IL???

We are in the beginning stages of adopting form China? Can anybody tell me about the flight? We are both terrified of flying and want to know how long, any lay overs, ect? Do you have to stay in China for 2 whole weeks? Has anybody worked with Lifelink in IL? Thanks for the info. Mel

mel,
we don't currently live in s. ill but my husband and myself went to college there and stayed for many years. We ususally go back about once a year for a college reunion. We now live in Texas and I do so wish we could move back.....anyway the plane ride from St. Louis to Bejing is about 18 hrs including layovers, you will have at least one depending on which carrier you fly. My best advise is to sleep, (as if that is possible) and to walk around or at least stand up and stretch it helps on those long haul flights. We have two daughters from China and both times we traveled we were gone for two weeks but that did include our travel time. Your best bet is to take a flight that will get you into beijing in the early evening so you can go right to bed then wake up early and start your day so that your body gets used to the time change. Also both times we went I was holding my daughters with in two days of arriving in Chinga. We spent 1 or 2 days touring Beijing and flew to the girls province and had them in my arms...You need all the sleep you can get... Good Luck -
Byrnes

Hey Mel,

It's funny that you mentioned you worked in Paducah. We live in Benton, KY (in the KY Lake area) which is only minutes from Paducah.

I'd love to chat with you!!
June
