I need the help of a search angel who specializes in California adoptions. I'm doing this on behalf of a friend who was born and adopted in San Francisco, Calif. in 1956. She is currently being treated for cancer and needs her family medical history. Here is her info we've found so far:
California Birth Index Entries: (2) 1) Name at birth: Jean Ann Flickinger DOB: November 10, 1956 Gender: Female County: San Francisco, CA Mother's Maiden Name: Flicking [Flickinger, I think it's truncated] 2) Name at birth: Jean Ann Williams DOB: November 10, 1956 Gender: Female County: San Francisco, CA Mother's Maiden Name: Flicking [Flickinger] *I'm assuming that Williams is the birth father's surname. My friend was adopted thru Children's Home Society, Oakland, CA (Tehama County). The finalization date was August 19, 1957. She has been told that both her parents were in their late teens, and that her birth mother was possibly from "back east" and had been sent to San Francisco. Her birth mother was also most likely of German ethnic background. If someone could help us, it would mean so much. Also, is it possible to find out first names on the California Birth Index? The CBI at Ancestry.com only lists surnames, not first names for the parents. Also, if we have to go the court route on medical grounds, what is the procedure? Thanks so much for your help! ~~Raven
