Mississippi Children's Home Society 1970's Brochure
I realize that it doesn't help anyone in thier search, but it does give a little insight on what the home was like.
Front page: Mississippi Children's Home Society (a picture of Kate Mcwillie Powers Recieving Home) State-wide adoption agency Non Sectarian Privately Supported Fully Licensed Organized in 1912 Second Page The Child A concerted effort is made by the total agency staff and other specialists as needed in providing appropriate parents who assume the duties and privileges of responsible parenthood in a protected setting. The Natural Parents All rights and identities of natural parentage are treated with respect and confidentiality with freedom from hurried decisions under stress to give up child. If the release of a child is made, a suitab;e and permanent home for the child is assured. The Adoptive Parents Professional casework services are provided with the protective placesment of an adoptable child and final legal adoption foloowung the supervisory period. The Community A good adoption is a perpetual blessing to our society. Agency Children The majority of children placed for adoption through MCHS are babies born to unmarried mothers. Some of these are served by the Crestview Crittenton Home and other maternity homes. Some are referred to the Agency after the birth of a child by social workers, physicians, ministers, attorneys, etc. for confidential care and planning. Illness, death, seperation, and divorce may cause some families to ask that children be considered for adoptive placement. |
