What does your school have and still need?
What does your school have in place to accomodate your child and what does it still need?
Our school has a lift to get my son's wheelchair from the downstairs gym to the main floor. But not one to the seldom used second floor, nor any way for him to get his chair onto the stage in the auditorium. They hae a special swing he can use, but he can't get in or out of it. He can't really do much at recess, they do find ways to accomdate him in PE. He has an aid, but he really does not need her very much and probably won't have one next year. They redid a bathroom for him, but now he insists on using the normal bathroom, including the urinal. He cannot close the door on the stall in the bathroom but usually saves #2 for at home anyway. So how about your schools?

We don't have that problem yet, but if we adopt this child we are considering I think we will run into problems. The state he is in now they separate sp. ed. classes up. For instance, autistic kids in a class, behavior problem kids in a class and so on. Here where we live they are all put into one sp.ed. classroom. I can already see problems. I don't know what I'll do. He has behavior problems.

In our school all the children are mainstreamed. The kids with more severe issues have an aid to help them out. My son had one this year that he shared with an autistic boy, but next year he won't have one as he doesn't really need one.
