To mmdiamond: We had a very positive experience with our adoption agency. The whole process was organized and there were no loose ends. We went to Belarus and 10 days later we were home with our two new daughters (sisters ages 16 and 15). They seem to have a good reputation with the Russian government and at the time, the Belarusian government. I don't know if they are one of the agencies you are considering. Also, to encourage you, in spite of some difficult moments, we truly love our new daughters and we can't imagine life without them now. They bring a lot of joy and laughter into our lives, not to mention the fact that we have learned so much about Belarusian culture and history. It has opened our eyes to a whole new aspect of life and we see things through their eyes much more. It has been quite a ride, but a good one. We see real growth in their personalities. They are learning to let go of the survival skills they learned in the institution and are starting to understand what love and family means. I hope and pray for the best for you as you pursue adoption.
