Do you know if the birthmoms that went through catholic charities had to be catholic? Weird I know, just wondering......................................... .......Thanks, Sue

My mother had her baby in the Roselia Foundling Home in Pitts. PA, which was affiliated with Catholic Charities. At that time she was Lutheran, but two years later converted to the Catholic Church when she married my father. Pattie

No they did not
A dear friend of mine went thru cc and definitely wasn't Catholic, and never became or wanted to be catholic. CC doesn't care about the mother's religiion, they just want the baby to become catholic.

No, you don't have to be Catholic to adopt thru them. We are Catholic and we are going the independent route. We did call them, they said they accept couples of all faiths. The fees were a little high so we didn't like the idea, they didnt seem to warm to the fact we were over 40 either.Good luck...Joanne
