Also, still no response to my email I sent the case worker. If I don't here by next Tuesday, I am going to try again and again... Thanks for the luck! I did find myself a search angel. So, I hope that she can help me.Nicole |

Three versions of the truth?
I'm glad I found all of you. It helps me to not get too optimistic or confused about the info that I have received from Catholic Charities in Peoria. I was born in Peoria on 12/20/1953--a 2lb 10.5 oz preemie. I had good adoptive parents who were always as honest as they could be with me but I never really got over not knowing who my birth family was. My adoptive parents were told that I was of Dutch/Irish/ Scots descent, that a nun who had cared for me in the Schlarman Home had named me Judy and had not wanted to part with me. They were also told that my birth Mother resembled my adoptive Mother and birth Father resembled my adoptive Father. In 1976 I requested non-identifying info and received a letter saying that other than the legal documents, there wasn't any info. When I inquired again in 2000 I received a letter telling me That I was born in St Francis Hospital, what I weighed (accurate), that my birth Mother was single, 27 years old at the time of my birth,5'6" tall, weighed 108 pounds, had dark hair and green eyes and was of Bohemian descent. She was employed as a manager of a magazine clothing company. Pleasing personality and liked the outdoors. Birth Father is described as about 5'8' tall, brown hair, blue eyes, weighing 200 pounds, of Polish descent, employed as a dry cleaner.loked sports and the outdoors. Truly, I don't know what to think. I do know that at that time preemies of that birth weight rarely survived and that I was in the hospital for over two months before going to the Home. My info also states that there was a dependency hearing for my Mother in April 1954. Now days a dependency hearing is a TPR or termination of parental rights which is not usually voluntary. It all makes me wonder even more what really happened. Does anyone have any ideas on how to pursue this? While I would really like to find my birth parents, if the info is accurrate, my birth Mom would be close to 80 now and maybe not even alive. I really would like to find any relatives and solve the mystery that has tormented me for so long. Thanks for any ideas that you might have. You can email me at anomlee@aol.com if you like. Good luck to all of you in your searches and than you for taking the time to read this.

ISO SISTER born Nov. 1970
I just found out about my half sister in Oct. and have been posting high and low in hopes she is searching. My half sister was born In Portsmouth Virginia naval hospital November of 1970. She was relinquished to Catholic Charities. Ok, here is what i know,,, CC completely depressed me and made me feel like giving up. I WON"T HAVE IT. I expect little to NO help at all from Catholic Charities. The info they give is conflicting and I just simply don't trust them. If anyone has any information please email me at butterflyswhispers@yahoo.com. Thank you
Good luck to you all and Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. |

I heard the same thing through other people. I sure hope not. I put a baby girl up for adoption in April 1986 through C.C. and I was told when she turns 18 her records could be release to her if I agreed to it when I put her up, which of course I said yes. Good luck in your search. I have been looking for over 5 years for my daughter. I hope I wasnt lied to. lori

Laura was assigned to my cas too. Laura worked long and hard..for 9 months trying to get my bmother to respond to the mail that she sent all to no avail. As an adoptee herself she understands how we feel and our concerns. She is the best. But in the end my case was ordered closed by the court. I finally did hire a PI and found my biomother who was not thrilled but polite to me. She died 2 years ago to the day I spoke to her on the phone. I know nothing of my biofather. I hope Laura is successful for you. She deserves success..she is sensitive and very very caring..the best. |

I really like her, but she cannot help me with my case, because i am searching for my brother who was adpoted through catholic Charities in St. louis, but she did however give me the name and number of someone who could help me at the St. louis location, which i did. he could not tell me much, but he confirmed alot and he did tell me the date my brother was adopted, which i didnt already know.
It was almost heart breaking talking to him, knowing he had everything i wanted to know and more in a file in front of him and he couldn"t (or wouldnt) tell me anything useful. But atleast i know one more little piece of information, which is one more piece to the HUGE puzzle. Good Luck to all of you in your search! |

CC is notorious for falsifying information, lying, swearing by it and then lying some more. In my experience they had me searching for a non existant birth mother. Thanks to MA DSS I was able to unravle the web of lies CC created.
Lets not forget that back in the BSE the main aspect of all adoptions were based on lies. Agencies(not only CC) swore birthmothers to secrecy and all adoptions were sealed and tightly closed. Never in a million years did anyone ever think that one day adoptees and birthfamilies would ever search. Today we know better. Even still it doesn't make their lies OK. I just wanted to let you all know you are not alone. EZ |

Well that is just how we adoptees feel. Some stranger, in on one case Laura, in another for me a lady at the court, had my file open and can see everything about my history..including my biofather's name and I can't know it..never mind I am 60 now and my bioparents are long since dead...As I said I used a PI and found my maternal side. But the PI could not find my father's side telling me there was no access to it..which I took to mean was not on the original birth certificate even though CC has a name. It is an outrage. And to get my non id info back in 2002 I had to pay 50bucks for it..it may be more now. Let me know if you would like to know the name of the PI I used.

The whole thing is just so frustrating! It is as if they want you to give up. To get so frustrated that you just give up!
Not me, i will find my brother someday. I just hope someday is not too late. ISO half brother. His birth name was Bryan James Froelich. Bryan was born 10-16-1976 at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was immediatly geiven up for adoption after birth. He went to Catholic Charities in St. Louis, Mo. I don't have any answers for you, but want to wish you the best in your search. I am searching also and reading what you have posted makes me nervous. I am searching for medical reasons. I was diagnosed with MS and I feel obligated in my heart to contact them. I'll pray for you in your search.
God Bless |
