St. Mary's Infant Home Norfolk Virginia

I was born 10-31-1971 in Norfolk General Hospital, Department of Social Services placed me in St. Mary's Infant Home until I was adopted in 1972. I tried contacting St. Mary's (which is now a home for disabled children) and was told they didnt have any record for the info I have. Am I being lied to?

Baptisim Records

I found my birthmother's name (maiden) on my original certificate. I went back to my church that I grew up in. They gave me the church that Catholic Charites Christened me at.(they had my amended paper work) I then contacted that church and told them I was searching for my birthmother. Each church is different, but they gave me a copy of the original. She was listed as my mother, and my godmother that was listed was the social worker. I was born in 1967, and with that information and non identifying from CC given her age at the time I found her. They couldnt, but also didnt tell me she gave them permisson to contact her if I wanted to. Hope this helps someone.

Smile Female adopted through Catholic Social Services

Hi, I am searching for my biological mother. I was adopted through Catholic Social Serives or Catholic Charities of Philadelphia, PA as some people call it. I was born 1973 on July 1st. I have gone through Catholic services to get my non-identifying info. and the are trying to contact my birthmother with no luck. When I call they say that they sent the letter to Social Security and they must have sent it out to her. I am so frustrated because if I thought anybody could find her it would be them. I know it's not there fault that she does not respond but I wish they would change the way they do things with being so private. Any help you would be able to give is appreciated! Thank-you
