looking for my sister
My mother, Patricia Attwood had a baby girl in Aug of 1960. She was sent to Tampa, Florida to have the baby and the adoption was facilitated by Catholic Charaties in Tampa. I would like to find my sister and don't even know the best way to begin. Are there websites or service angencies that can help?

Just wanted to keep this info updated. Still searching for my daughter. Her birthdate is March 11,1987. She was born in NY and adopted to Massachusetts. the adoptive parents' home study was done by Catholic Charities in Peabody. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I am missing her very much and hope she has a wonderful life! Jenn

I think it may have been a grey market adoption. Although the home study was done by CC the actual adoption was handled by an attorney. It was closed and the only thing that led me to believe she was adopted to Mass. was the branch of CC that did the home study. Also their home study wasn't complete until Aug of 1987 even though they took custody of her in March.My family never knew that until we got the non id.

Are you sure that she was adopted thru the MI office? My Aparents had to wait for a baby girl 4/65, me, because they only had boys.

I found the Relinquished Registry anything but satisfactory - and I'm not sure that site is still up and running. I haven't had a need to check it. The Registry is/was a site for those relinquished through Catholic Charities to register in hopes of finding relatives. I just found it had a hard time staying up and running and keeping up.
