In a lot of States, you can not get your original birth certificate unless you know your birthmother's name. Having to petition the Court System is highly unlikely, unless there is some dire circumstance. Be sure to check your States Laws on Adoption and any Registries that they may have.
Good Luck

cc

I just jumped in, have been reading a little, adopted and found birth family. Relinquished web site will tell you ALL you need to know about cc. If you are catholic I went to my church, my baptism recorded had been changed, they lead me to another church, cc had also done baptism and birth mothers name was listed on it. I can be a start for some.

Female Adoptee Searching for BFamily Adopted Miami, FL 11/30/1976

I am a female adoptee searching for any member of my birth family. I have some non-ID info which I received from Catholic Service Bureau in Miami, FL. I have also registered with the Florida Adoption Reunion Registry (FARR) and ISRR, so far with no results. I was born on 11/30/1976 "somewhere" in FL - I don't have specifics. Apparently, my birthmother was staying at a maternity home. I was adopted on 12/17/1976 in Miami, FL. I had impetigo at birth, or shortly therafter. At one point in my search a few years ago, I was contacted by one woman whose story fit, except for the date of birth. I suppose that could be incorrect. I have had some medical issues and it is quite important that I find out my medical history, even if she has no interest in meeting with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am refraining from posting any further non-ID info for use to compare with any possible matches. I thank you for your help.

Try comparing non- id info on adoption.com, theres an option for traits like hair color, eye color etc. Birthdates, especially with catholic charities, may be altered. Seeing as you have non id info, i take it youve already been in touch with CC. They can also check your file to see if your birthparents have signed a waiver, in that case, you CAN contact them by law. I think the fee is 150 or something.

To Those Of You Who Are Dealing With Catholic Charities I Know Exactly How You Feel I Was Adopted Through CC In Buffalo New York In 1953 So Were 3 Of My Sibblings I Was Able To Find The Non-idenifying Information And With That Found Some Members Of The Birth Family My Birth Mother Was Decessed And All But One Uncle Was Alive Form The 1st Generation So Alot Of The Information I Got Came From Cousins Who Were As Helpfull As They Could Be,i Was Able To Get Medical Infromation Which Was An Emergancey Level So I Told CC They Had To Put This Information In My Sibblings Records And They Claimed They Did You See If Some One From The Birth Famiuly Has Vital Information Regarding Medical Cc Would Be Held Accountable If They Do Not Try To Reach Out To Those Adoptee's And Tell Them Information Has Been Updated In Their File Then It Is Htere Choice Wheather Or Not They Want To Know. This I No To Be True As I Did Just That. Cc Was Very Uncoopertive But Its The Law They Have To Update Their Records Because If Any Of Them Were To Die And The Medical Infromation I Gave Them Could Have Helped They Can Be Sued.
Hope This Helps Some One Out There By The Way I Am Still Lokking For 2 Sibblings That Were Placed For Adoption Sometime In The 50's By Cc Of Buffflao New York Birth Family Name Was Leonardo Rose Leonardo Was Our Birth Mother She Lived In Rochester New York And Never Married ,good Luck And God Bless Christine
