$$$$ = piece of mind for a CC reunion...any suggestions????

Hello ALL!

I have come to the conclusion that the ONLY way for me to come in contact of some sort with my birth mother would be to buck up the $900 to CC for them to pick up the phone book do their search and call it a day. That is the sad truth and yet the reality of my "search". I have learned sooooo much from this website and am in awe about how many adoptees are really out there. The stories about their adoptions are pretty amazing too. I am very touched.

I guess I am just bummed because I know my aparents "donated" a lot of money for me to be in their lives and now for me to fill in the pieces of my biological past I need to buck up another $900 to do so...it's hard to justify financially especially when now I am raising a young family of my own.

Any suggestions for searching???

E!

$$$$ = piece of mind for a CC reunion...any suggestions????

Dear E:

Is CC charging you $900.00 for non-identifying information, or are they saying they will go the extra mile ie- open phone book and give you name and address for $900.00?

If so, what county in NJ where you adopted in? I was adopted through Paterson CC, and they want $150. for non-id.

If I can be any help, please don't hesitate, I have a lot of info, just can't seem to get full circle with it all.

Good luck!

Trish

Hey Trish!

I am currently working with CC in Burlington Co. for my adoption that took place in Mercer County. I paid $100 for "Non Identifying" Info and will have to pay an additional $900 for a search to be conducted in which CC will contact the birth mother or the nearest relative. From there, the birthmom or relative can be receptive and the process could link to a "reunion" or the buck stops there if the parent or family member refuse the CC intermediary!

E:

I'm amazed! They (CC) sound quite helpful. Before they offered to make contact, did you have to write a letter for your file indicating you were open to a reunion, and did your birthmother also have a written letter in the file? I was told they would only make contact if both "parties" had "written concent". I'm also dealing with the most difficult county in NJ from what I've been told.
I'm also working with an Agency. I've paid them a little less than your amount, and I've supplied them with so much information including my birthmothers name, and they still have yet to contact me with anything. I can e-mail them every 12 weeks, my last e-mail from them was a note of encouragement "no 2 snowflakes are the same"; let me tell you I slept well that night with such compashionate encouragement!
It sounds like this may be successful for you, I sure hope so. Keep the faith, pedrhaps in your case, that note is sitting in your file which will make this decision easier for you. You're right, there are a lot of us out there with many stories to tell but yours will be one to celebrate one day.

I wish you all the luck in the world.

Trish

Hi. Were you born in Colorado Springs, CO in March of 1980? I am seeking my daughter, whom I placed with Catholic Charity in Colorado Springs. Could this be you?

I am really sorry it's going to cost you that much money. When I worked through CC, it was $75 per hour of work for the case worker to do the work.

There may be another option ... NJ Bill S1093 finally (after a year) was reported out of the Assembly Family, Womens and Childrens Services Committee and was referred to the Appropriations Committee. They may be meeting on January 5th and the bill may be voted on on January 9th. If passed and signed into law, it will allow you to obtain your original birth certificate after a one year period (which allows for birth parents to file a contact preference form or request for non-disclosure).

If the $900 is too much to swallow, there may be another option if you're willing to wait. You can track the status of the bill at www.njleg.state.nj.us Bill number is S1093.
