What's in a Name?

OK ladies, I want to hear all your opinions.

I like Christian meanings/biblical type names that are 'strong' and I tend to like simpler old fashioned names.

Our DS has a very strong simple saint name and it is perfect.

What names do you all like that fit into that description. Boy and/or girl, lets hear them all! It there a particular meaning to the name that makes you love it?

Well, we like good, solid names as well...

Our boys' names are Adam (which means of the earth) and Joseph (which means God will increase...or He will add).

Had either of our boys been a girl, their name would have either been Katherine or Grace...although now I just love the name Madeline.

My boys are Joseph and Elijah. Funny enough, Elijah's self-professed pagan birth mother named him after one of the greatest profits of the Bible. I really do prefer names with a Biblical origin, or at the least are motivated by a Christian attitude. that being siad, our daughter's name is neither... but her middle name is Marie! We didn't name her either, but can't imagine her being anyone but who she is.

I love the name Elijah with Eli as a nickname. It is my 1st choice boy name but DH thinks it is too hard to spell! He said he can't spell it so how is he going to teach kiddo to spell it! lol
I also love Katherine (katie) for a girl, but once again, DH... Oy Vey!
I like Adam... and Joseph for a middle name I was thinking...
DH likes Emily, old fashion - yes, strong - sort of, Christian/Biblical - I'll have to look it up. Emily Marie for girl? Any thoughts....?
I need more ideas!!!!!!

My son's name is actually Adam Joseph..We had always decided on Adam Michael (my DH's name is Michael) but when Adam was born, his firstmom had chosen Joseph as his middle name...so we decided to keep it...

I always wanted to name my son Jonah, but my DH did NOT like it...so as a joke, he said "Why don't we just make this easy on ourselves and if we have another boy, call him Joseph Adam - haha"...Well, Joseph was close enough to Jonah, and it kind of stuck, even though it's a bit wierd that his first name is the same as Adams middle name (but I drew the line at using Adam as the middle name - haha).

I have to admit, though, there are days when I really wish we would have chosen Jonah - sigh...

By the way - I LOVE Emily Marie - my only thought is that it's SOO popular - and coming from a "Jennifer" who is married to a "Michael", believe me - it's not all it's cracked up to be...lol

Oh Jonah is another fav of mine! But, alas DH... ugh!
but DH does like ADAM! we may be getting somewhere!

On the popular names... Michelle here and my bro is Michael! I know it! But I'm still digging Emily Marie I think. Madeline was part of my G'mas name and I am kinda liking it now. She was very french, her name was Marie Madeline Leonie (but all with crazy french spelling!) and went by Madeline. I think it is kinda pretty.

My daughter is Elizabeth and one of the reasons I liked it is because it is a biblical name (it also means, "God's promise" which I thought was fitting). It's also the name of Elizabeth Ann Seton and St. Elizabeth of Hungary.

Other biblical/saints names I like:

Luke
Jonah
Noah
Benjamin
John
Magdalene (could use Maggie for short)
Rosemary (reminds me of Our Lady of Guadalupe)
