Wonderful Holiday

Church was so nice Christmas morning. For a change it wasn't over crowded. We actually had a few who had their first communion. That was really nice.

How did the rest of you fair?

That sounds wonderful! 1st Communion on Christmas day - how special!

We actually did the Christmas Eve mass at 8:00pm (the exact time of ds's bedtime!). We have always went to Christmas Eve mass since I was a baby. It is the childern's mass with the pagent and all the kiddos gather around father for the childerns sermon. I just love it!
DS did really well even though he was tired. He was just extremely goofy! But the people around us all said how good he did after mass. My 10 year old nephew thought it was great. I love seeing that the kids get it, it is Jesus' birthday.
But when we got home, that was another story! He was so revved up, he run around being goofy until about 11:00 or 11:30 because he was soooo overtired! After a short bout of screams finally let sleep take over. And then the Christmas day excitement - we are still catching up! he slept 8pm to 9am last night, 3.5 hour nap and he was in bed by 7:00 tonight.

We had a wonderful service. We attended my brother and SIL's church for their 5:00 children's mass. My 2 nieces are in the children's choir. Our older DS is almost 4 and was so into Mass. It actually brought a tear to my eye when they all processed in and a little girl put the baby Jesus in the cradle in the manger on the alter...my son says (very loudly) "Mommy, I am so happy! Baby Jesus is born!!"

We had such a beautiful mass! We got there almost an hour early (arrived at 3:10 for 4:00 mass) and actually got a seat! Late arrivers (3:20 and on) ended up standing - yikes! That was us 2 years ago!

Anyway, my boys were so well behaved and extremely excited to see all their friends from school (they attend Catholic school at the church). What a great Christmas!

We went to the Christmas Eve childrens Mass at 4pm. The priest was still hearing confessions when I arrived at 3:30 which was absolutely wonderful (and no line!). Mass was about an hour longer and my 2 year old foster daughter had a melt down right before Communion. We were in the baby room so we wouldn't disturb other people-but she was laying on the floor kicking and screaming (*overtired). She didn't want me to hold her. I kept dirty looks from an elderly lady behind me. What was I supposed to do? The woman probably wondered what I was doing with 4 tiny black kids, one asian baby and no husband. Plus, I got up and went to communion-so she probably wondered what kind of people I am mixed up with.
