Question A few ?'s about Catholic Charities

My husband and I are in the search for somewhere to help us complete our family. I was directed to Catholic Charities by a family member who is Catholic.

Will Catholic Charities allow a non-Catholic to adopt through there agency? Will it matter what religon that my husband and I are?

I am LDS and they won't allow us to adopt through the church because of my husband's
Pentacostal upbringing.

Catholic Charities works with all faiths...

Do A LOT of research before you opt to go with any agency...get LOTS of feedback and talk to LOTS of people.

Compare fee's too...not just experiences.

Good luck!

I did an internship with Catholic Charities in Minnesota in 1998. When I was there, they would only allow people to adopt if one parent was Catholic and they planned to raise the child/children Catholic. Birthparents did not have to be Catholic.

Catholic Charities does allow people from all faith to adopt through them. I agree with Brandy and research, research, research. We opted to not choose our local Catholic Charities for several reasons. Feel free to PM me if you'd like. Many people are successful through them, though. I hope this helps!! And I hope you get more respeonses here. Good Luck and Merry Christmas!!

Catholic Charities

I think Jewish Family Services and Bethany family Services do not restrict by faith either. At least where I live, though it sounds like it can vary from region to region. Definitely do some more research just to feel sure.

We adopted through our local diocese's Adoption Services and though we are Catholic, I know they work with all faiths in both birthparents and adoptive parents. Of course, if a birthmother is working with a Catholic agency, she may be hoping for a Catholic family for the baby.
