1 &2) We are finalizing in March. We got a baby from the county four days old.

3) Ohio

4) No, we did not, but we got permission to baptize asap as soon as we signed the adoption agreement with the county.

Talking just signed up!

Hello, I have just begun this forum. My husband and I live in Oklahoma. We are in the homestudy phase of our first adoption. Unfortunately, we have fallen in love w/ a little boy in Canada. From my research I understand that it's more likely to raise the Titanic than to succeed w/ Canada. Any secrets for a Canada to US adoption? Any help or prayer would be appreciated.

(1) Are you in the process of adopting, have you already adopted or both?

My husband and I are just at the beginning. Gathering information, reading, reading, reading....

(2)Domestic or International? If domestic, foster care or newborn?. If international which country and age/gender?

Not sure! Like I said we are just in the beginning and haven’t made any decisions yet. Some days I think Domestic under 2 years of age. Some days I think a sibling group of 3 is what I want. Then I dream about a little Chinese baby

Please pray for us so we will be wise enough to hear what God is calling us to do!

(3)What state do you live in?

Illinois (Right on the Mississippi, we could very well be in Iowa!)

(4)Did you use Catholic agency for any part of the adoption?

We have contacted Catholic Charities, but the adoption coordinator wasn’t that friendly. We have also requested information from other non-catholic agencies.

Know that you are all in my prayers!
Hugs,
-Rebecca

1) We are in the process of our first adoption

2) We had wanted to adopt in the US but are open to intercountry adoption. We are a Native American family and are hoping to fing a native child or sibling group.

3) We live in the Great state of Oklahoma

4) We are communicating with our local Catholic services but have really just begun that dialogue

Please know that all hopeful parents and waiting children are in our prayes .

maybe I'm a parent-to-be

(1) I am considering the process of adopting. I am a single Catholic woman and I will be in my early thirties if/when I adopt.

(2) I cannot afford an international adoption.

(3) North Carolina

(4) I would be interested in using a Catholic agency if possible.

I'm probably going to lurk for a while to see what gets talked about. Basically, it's becoming clear to me that God did not call me to the vocation of marriage but I still feel that I could offer something to one child. My own background enables me to work with some special needs. I don't know that I'm going to adopt yet but I want to find out more.

I'm 29 now but I know I won't consider adoption until after I finish school which will be when I'm 31. While I know single parents who have children and attend school, I don't want to deliberately set up such a situation. I am already financially stable enough to support a child although I can't afford large fees for adoption. (Yes, I can afford some; I'm not unrealistic.)

I was briefly married when very young (outside the Church) and had a special needs (ADD) step-child in that marriage so I'm not completely unaware of parenting issues. No, I'm no expert, but I know enough to know it isn't always a bed of roses. I still found joy in it however -- even when it was difficult.

So I'll just listen. Any advice, just let me know.

My husband and I are hoping to adopt. We recently had a failed international adoption. Our homestudy is done and we are in waiting mode.
This time we are trying domestically, foster care or newborn doesn't matter as long as the foster child is young. We have no gender preference.
We contacted Catholic Charities, but the wait time is very long here in South Dakota, and we'd likely be too old by the time a child came available. We're both 43.

Domestic newborn. We are from Wisconsin and our daughter is from TX.

My husband and I are in the process of domestic adoption. We have selected the agency we want to work with, and will begin our home study "paperwork" later this month.
We live in the DC metro area. We started our journey through Catholic charities when we lived in Florida, but have decided to go through another non-profit agency in the area.
Good Luck to all and keep praying to St. Gerard.

Cool From Oregon

Hi!

My husband and I live in Salem Oregon and we are researching our options to begin adoption. We have decided we would like a closed adoption which makes our choices slim; either private adoption or international. Both look like they will take a lot of time. patience and especailly prayer.

We are wanting to adopt an infant as young as we possibly can, for this reason international adoption isn't as favorable as private domestic. At the present time we are going with international adoption despite that fact. Domestic adoptions do not allow closed adoptions as well as international can offer. The agency we are thinking about using is not Catholic, they are of a protestant nature. But they have been the most helpful in the research process and very willing to talk with us w/o paying them any fees first.

At the moment my husband is trying to get his newly started buisness steady and earning enough income so that I may be a stay at home mom when the time arrives. That is our main hold up at the moment. Once we feel secure (hopefully in 3-4 mths) we can have our homestudy done and start the rest of the process.

I hope and pray that everyone is doing well in their situation and don't ever give up faith!

My husband and I live in Michigan and have begun the adoption process. I am also adopted through Catholic Social Services. We are actually going through a private adoption because after doing research and trying to contact CSS several times, and also asking for the package to get us started, it never came.

I was dissapointed being so proud to be Catholic and adopted through CSS that I never received a call. I hope I did not offend anyone, it is just I was very dissapointed on the non-feedback I received. My parents were also mortified, considering they adopted me and my older brother 30 some years ago through CSS.

DH and I are doing domestic adoption and hoping for a union with a b/m to adopt a newborn.

Thanks for asking, it is neat to see there are still a number of people going through CSS and still going to church!! I find it to be a lost faith in the area I live.
