I am a widow and would like to adopt.

I am currently in RCIA and have been wanting to adopt for several years, been widowed since 1996. Would I have trouble adopting thru a Catholic adoption agency as a single woman?

I believe most Catholic Service agencies require that you adopt as a married couple...and just as a heads up, you are not required to be Catholic to use their agency, and I believe that's reciprocal with several other religious affiliations.

I suggest calling the agency you are interested in to get their policies...

Good luck!

I'm a single Catholic woman. I adopted Maire-Kate through Catholic Charities in 1998. The agency had the same specifications & restrictions as any other agency. I was the only Catholic in the adoption class.
