International Adoption?

I just wondered if there was any Catholics on here that are in process of international adoption, or have completed international adoption?
We are in process of adopting our daughter from China.

We're Catholic and have 2 boys adopted from Russia, ages 5 and 2. They were both adopted when they were just past their 1st birthday.

What's the time frame you've been given for your adoption? We are thinking about adopting a girl from Korea, if we can somehow get the money.

Catholic and home from China

Hi folks:

We are Catholics. And we just returned from China with our adorable baby girl 3 weeks ago! Catherine Anne XiuJin turned one on May 7th! She is the light of our lives along with our son, also adopted, James age 12. Where are you in the process for China?

Russia adopters,

I have always wondered why Russia requires two visits for adoption. Did anyone ever explain? I am just curious.

The way it was explained to me was that there was too many cases of pap's coming to adopt a specific child and then backing out after meeting them. So they switched to 2 visits to ensure that the child was wanted by the family. Whether that is true or not, I am not sure, but that's just what I was told.

Oh, interesting. That is sad. International adoption is no small endeavor and certainly not for the faint of heart. I think God has been preparing me for this for a long time.

I am so excited to start the process as soon as the singles window opens to me. I pray I am approved by my agency so I can get the ball rolling, but I am trusting God to control everything - that way I'll know whether it truly is His Will or not.

Smile Adopting from Kazakhstan

Hello,

We , too, are Catholic and are adopting our first child from Kazakhstan. We should actually be traveling in the next couple of months or so. It looks like we will be bringing home a baby boy! We're in the process of picking out names to use as either a first name or a middle name if we decide to keep his given first name. We've been checking out saints' names, too.

Heart

I'm Catholic and dh and I recently adopted two from Korea. We had difficulty picking out our son's name but his name suits him well. With our daughter we had a harder time. I had names picked out for a boy and a girl if we had conceived.

My names for my conceived children if I could have them: Shawn Douglas (yes I know it's from a soap opera but I really loved the name) and Elizabeth Anne. My dh made the mistake of telling all of his family that we had picked out the name of Elizabeth Anne. When dd arrived, in my heart, I couldn't call her the name of the daughter that I couldn't conceive. It would have hurt too much.

After about a week of going back and forth on what to name her, I came up with her name. It came to me one night while I was feeding her her nightly bottle and it felt right, really right. With her name we still honor our daughter that we couldn't conceive but gave her a name all her own. Her name is Catherine Elizabeth Ryanne Eun Seong. We call her Katie for short.

Jen

yes...Guatemala

We are Catholic and are adopting our son from Guatemala. We are in the last steps and pray we have him home by Christmas. Once he is home, we will start the process for adopting a baby girl.
God Bless all on your journey.

China for us :)

DH and I are DTC 9/1/06, with no word yet on our LID.

Hope we hear soon.

Sadly the wait times are increasing for China. Rumors put the wait at 18-24 months or worse

But I feel in my heart of hearts that we will be home with our child before Christmas of 2007!

Hugs,

My DH & I are Catholic and we adopted our son this past spring from Lithuania. It took just over three years start to finish and was a certainly a test of faith!
