something stupid 10 years ago...how will this effect me?

Hi,
I am new to this board and hoping to get some information from case workers . About 10 years ago or so I'd had gotten into a fight with my parents after the way they had unfairly treated me. They had illegally gone through my things and thrown most of it away (I was over 18 but going to college) So I had decided to piss off my mother and I swallowed a bottle of asprin, a few hours later after I'd thought I'd given it enough time to scare her into thinking she would lose me (hopeing to get her to treat me better) nothing had happend so long story short I'd ended up in the hospital, they of course (unknown to me) placed me in a mental institution over the weekend and after they realized I had no mental or emotional or psycholigical condition whatsoever they released me (as they saw no reason to have had me placed there to begin with) I have since moved on with my life and have become an elementary school teacher and now I wish to adopt. I can not have children of my own due to problems with my reproductive organs......

anyways getting on to my question I am curious to know that since this was over 10 years ago will I lose ANY chance of adopting children?

No, it is not likely that those things will disqualify you from adopting. You'll need to be truthful about them, that they happened, how you reacted, etc. But you'll also be providing current doctors' assesments and as long as your current doc believes you will be a normal parent and those issues are not still affecting you then it will be fine.
