I am in search of adoption laws for an older couple. They have taken care of a child since birth. The child is now 6. They are not legal guardians. The child is their granddaughters. The granddaughter has 2 other small children living in the douplex next to them. The Granddaughter pays little to no attention to the 6 yr old. The grandparents have always acted as parents with medical insurance, clothes, food, shelter, school, church, and after school activities. The granddaughter has recently brought someone into her home that is abusive and a drug user. The Grandpartents have asked the granddaughter to let them adopt the 6yr old and she refuses. I beleive they need to take legal action twards her, because if ever left in the granddaughters care the 6 yr old would be in danger. There is a lot to this but I hope this is short enough to get a start with some helpful leads in what they need to do.
