Hi Friends, I live in the Bay Area and I am a college student that would absolutely LOVE to work with a home study agency in helping couples through the adoption process. I would be interested in knowing what educational route to take to accomplish my goal.

What kind of Bachelors or Masters Degree would be the most useful for a career with an agency? My counselor wasn’t able to help, if anyone in CA has any information on what degree is required please let me know.

Kat,
In my experience, your best bet is getting your Masters degree in Social Work (MSW). An MSW is accepted by many agencies as well as local and foreign governments when conducting homestudies. LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) is not always accepted.
