Heart Getting started on a Haitian adoption, and have questions!

Finally, the SW found an orphanage in Haiti willing to work with my husband and me!

So begin the questions:

1) Can anyone please PM me with experiences about Wasatch, International? Is $300 a reasonable price to pay as an "application fee" with the agency stateside?

2) Reccommend me good books on international adoption? And/or, good books about transracial adoption, (we're white, I;m assuming he'll be black), transcultural adoption?

3) What exactly goes on during a homestudy? Should we take time off work for this? Prepare a "plan of attack" first?

4) Good CD's to learn Haitian Kreyol? We want to adopt a baby or toddler, but I want us both to have at least some grasp of the language, just in case.

4) Does anyone know whether or not international adoption can affect a security clearance? (My H needs one for his job, which is part of the reason it'll probably be just me going to Haiti for gotcha day).

TIA! I;m so over the moon about this.

Hey! I spent 12 weeks in Haiti last year, and an additional trip in September for 2 weeks. I worked with Haiti Children's Home. Since my last trip, I got a course for learning Creole; it's called "Creole with a Smile" and was put together by a lady working in Haiti. The guy selling them knows her personally and says she works in Haiti 6 months out of the year. It supports her causes, and I have not found a better course in my quest for learning Creole.
