By the way I checked out your site. Owen is such a cutie! I remember the time between meeting Lilly and bringing her home. When I got home my DH said that I was different. It was so hard to be withour my little girl. hang in there. He will be home, and then everything seems right in the world again.

Working with attorney
To anyone successfully adopting from Haiti- we have been requested to supply a psychological evaluation in addition to our homestudy, do you know what tests or how in deoth they are looking for? If there are specific tests, we need the names of those tests. Thanks Jamie Shackelford

Not very indepth at all! They will try and get you to do 6 visits and pay $1000! DO NOT DO IT!!!!! It should cost arround $200. You do not need any tests!!!!! I have heard of some up to $500 but that was mostly because the family gave up hope of finding a DR. to do what they need and just pay it. We met with a pshycologist for about 1 hour and he typed up a little page long thing for us. That is all you need. It just has to say that you do not appear to have any issues that would prohibit you from adopting a Haitian child. Really that is it! To save yourself some leg work I would say join the Haitian Angels Yahoo group and see if someone who lives around you can give you the name of who did theirs. I was the first in this area (Utah) and I called 9 DR.'s before I found one that would do it. Now 4 more people have usued him. I saved them 1 very frustrating afternoon!

OK, we have a friend who is a Biblical counselor ( and a Dr. in front of his name) I think he will do it. We are located in North Carolina and our oldest son has just returned from the mission field in Haiti. He has been caring for a little boy for the last two years, so now we are trying to adopt this five year old. Is there any chance that you could either FAX or email me a copy of the psychological report. Our counslor/friend asked me to get him an outline or an example of what we need. Just let me know. Make sure that your Biblical counselor has the right credentials. A PhD in Psychology or at least a Master's in Psychology or I believe Family Counseling. Ask the orphanage or international agency to be sure. You don't want to have to be interviewed twice.
