We're in the process-- and have been now for a year today.

We entered IBESR on May 31, 2006. I find the process maddening. However, I know it will all be worth it.

Good luck! Where are you in the process?

This is our second adoption. Our first was from Russia through an agency. Ruslan is 3yrs old and a LP (Little Person). That's how we found out about this baby boy in Haiti, because the LPA (Little People of America) has an adoption committee that brings children with dwarfism to the attention of LPA members.
Right now we are in the process of getting our home study updated and our I-600a filed. This has been a different experience for us because it’s through an orphanage and not an agency. How have your experiences been so far?

Thanks,
Jen

We're working through God's Littlest Angels. Edited to remove agency discussion.

Just a friendly reminder to remember to PM all agency discussion.

If you would like to know more about adoption.com's rules on agency discussion, please see this link: Why the Agency Discussion Guideline Exists – a Discussion

Thank you!

We are adopting through a different orphanage and going through an agency. Our process has been very good and we love our orphanage. We have only been in IBESR for a month and are eager to see how things go with this new director.

So, you both are adopting little guys too? How old are they? Our litte boy had his second birthday the day before we entered IBESR (September 7).

I hope things go well for you Jen! And what an amazing story you have!

We are adopting from PAC. Petits Anges de Chantal Orphanage - Haiti
We are so lucky that Lilly is there. We are hoping to have her home in the next few weeks. We need 1 more signature from IBESR to get out and then we are waiting on a visa. Hopefully a regular visa but we will take a medical visa if it is quicker. Lilly is sick with some intestinal parasite so we need her home quick. She is so tiny. Good luck on your journey. Having been to Haiti, I have such a love for these children. I recomend everyone adopt from Haiti.
Heidi

Question

Hi Jen;
We just started our Doisser on Oct. 22. I am wondering if you can adopt without an agency/independantly? Would it be more cost effective? What are the pros and cons?
