Cruelty towards Canadians...
Have you all noticed that not all things are equal between the U.S. and Canada?
For instance, have you ever compared a Canadian Twinkie to an American one? We are truly getting the short end of the stick. Whenever we have friends going to the U.S. I have them pick me up a box, they are sooo yummy. Ours are crap. Anyone ever find those Gerber puff thingies in Canada? I haven't. They are little veggie or fruit puffs that melt in your mouth, and my son loves them. Another thing I get friends to pick up. Anything else? Leigh |

Yeah, but Canadians get good drugs - over the counter. Like the 222's. Of course, in America, we can't trust our citizens to not become addicted to the small amoung of codeine in the 222's. Or something. -laughing-
Drop me a PM if you ever want me to send you a care package of Twinkies and Gerber puffs ![]()

I love Grape Nuts cereal, and the Canadian version is horrible, tastes/looks like catfood!
I always get my Mom to pick up 2 or 3 boxes of the stuff when she goes down to the states to visit her twin!

Hah - Nyquil gives me hallucinations! That's a major no-no for me. -laughing-
I gotta tell you, you guys get shafted at McDonalds as well. The Sausage McMuffins and Sausage Biscuts are just plain scary - I'm not sure what they do to them, but when we're in Canada, I won't go near a McD's. Tim Hortons all the way. (We go to Toronto a lot - my favorite place in the whole world)

Oh my...Tim Hortons...I'm an addict.
It all started in hairschool...a Tim's right across the street. I had a small french vanilla coffee and toasted everything bagel with butter like EVERY morning....and I'd often have lunch. Never got sick of it. And now with this whole RRRRRoll up the Rim to win thing, I'm there pretty much daily for tea with my girlfriends... I did win a donut I had no idea we were getting the shaft at McD's....I went to school in Santa Monica for a bit, and I thought the McD's buns were odd (yellowish and dry). I don't remember the breakfast things being different, but they probably are (dont think i had breakfast there too often) Leigh |

222 -- is that like anacin 3 that USED to be over the counter here?
Yeah, cant give those things to Americans I agree... We have to show ID and sign for cough medicine now because people use it for meth.. More importantly though.... do people actually eat twinkies? I mean I know I see them in the store... but I couldnt tell you the last time I saw someone eat a twinkie... Last edited by FH-numbr1dbcksfan : 03-22-2006 at 09:11 PM. |

The difference is that "breakfast foods" (including cereals like grapenuts / McMuffins or any other breakfast food) in CANADA must have a certain nutritional level (limited sugar etc). So you will find that ALL our cereals are different in Canada than in the states. Particular differences in Peanut Butter as well.
Other differences - in Canada, only "cola" is allowed to have Caffeine (eg Pepsi/Coke). Barqs rootbear had to apply for a waiver to be allowed to sell in Canada. Our Mountain Dew for example has no caffeine, where as it has the most in the USA. And yes, our drugs are cheap.

We don't live too far from the border so we go to the U.S. every couple of months for groceries. I must say that we are so ripped off when it comes to sugar-free (with splenda not nutrasweet) and low fat products. We always buy 3 or 4 containers of sugar free low fat ice cream, here all we can get is vanilla, chocolate and strawberry - there triple chocolate, moose tracks, cookie dough, neopolitan and the list goes on ... oh and lower fat hostess cup cakes (I just can't help myself).

For my in laws and other older Americans on expensive prescription drugs, Canada rocks. Even with shipping and handling, Canadian manufactured pharmacuticals are a bargain, as compared to American ones.
I like the fact that Canadian standards for items like breakfast cereals are high. We were in New Brunswick a few summers ago and purchased Cinnamon Toast Crunch (I know, the stuff is wretched but we do buy it occasionally). Our son refused to eat it because it tasted "funny", turns out the Canadian version has almost half of the sugar than the US one. BTW, we love Canada, especially Quebec and the Maritime provinces but Tim Horton's has the worst coffee in the world. Give me Dunkin' Donuts anytime. ![]() |

Opus, I'm not sure if we can still be friends if you're going to make that kind of disparaging remark against Timmy's.... SACRILEDGE!!!
I was in Tennessee last year for work and went to MacDonalds for lunch... YUCK!!! And here in the maritimes, our MacDonalds sell McLobsters!!!! ![]()
