Can anyone tell me if it is possible for US citizens to adopt from Manitoba? We have met a lovely girl who has asked us to be the adoptive parents of her baby....but we are having a terrible time finding out if we can do this. We have spoken with Child and Family services, and they say a private adoption is possible, but no one else seems to think it is.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

It's possible, but tricky. She would have to give birth in the US, and would have no health coverage, so you would have to pay the costs. Then there is all the legal stuff to deal with, and the citizenship issues. Each province has different rules, the same as each State; the problem is getting them to match. Good luck!

It is possible, and, yes, the pbmom would have go give birth in the US. I know of someone from here that went to Utah to give birth and place her child with a family there.
