Please help me start my search
My Mum is an adoptee, born April 12, 1955 at Vancouver General.
** was 15, 5'3, strawberry blonde/auburn hair, straight A student, liked sewing and played the piano. Birthname:maybe Amy or Anne BD had dark brown hair, tall, was a mechanic or something like that, may have moved back east shortly after the birth. ** has vetoed all indetifying info I feel, for some reason, that God wants me to find the ** now. I'm thinking of going to Vancouver library and looking at old yearbooks of area schools to compare photos and facial structure, just to get some names to search. Am I crazy? Please help, as I feel a certian urgency about this search. Holly C. |

Hi Holly,
Its very difficult to find any information on a natural parent or adoptee once their information has been veto'd. You can also end up with a huge fine do you actively search and FIND...find being the operative word. The only way around this stipuation is if you have dire medical emergency. There is a medical form available from Vital Statistics that you would get your mothers/or your doctor to fill out. But no they will not conduct a search unless you have a valid medical concern. However, you may file for an update every year, sometimes a party veto's their information and then decides that they want it open again. So asking for an update (this is free) is the best way to go. Looking at year books is not such a bad idea, but we are talking Vancouver...do you realize how many school's there are in that area? If you have an investigative mind you can pull out some vital information from your mothers records. Another thing you might try is filing for the same records but through The Freedom of Information Act. http://www.oipcbc.org/sector_public/...est_access.htm Your mother would have to aquire these records, unless you have power of attorney and then you could. You never know when someone may slip up and get sloppy...stranger things have happened. I am sorry I couldn't offer something more substantial, I hope this helps Hugs Melissa |
