Hi! Just want to let folks know, if you are new to searching, that BC has open records for adopted persons and natural parents (and other natural family members if the natural parents have died). (and if no-one has filed a disclosure veto!).
Info is on the BC gov't website at http://www.vs.gov.bc.ca/adoption/#access You can get the name of your lost family members., which means that often searching is as simple as looking in a phone book. Adopted persons will get the legal names of their natural parents at the time of surrender. Natural parents will get the adoptive names of their lost/take/surrendered children. |

I have a question...
hi, I just thought I'd throw this your way...would you know why the name of my father was blanked out on the records I received? I have my mothers name (unfortunately no such luck in finding her...as of yet) but all other names are blanks. It said in my records that my father said that he 'will never forget that he has a little girl out there somewhere' so that makes me wonder why his name is not shown??? Has anything changes in the last two years since I received my adoption records that might change that?
Thanks, Monique |
