Hey don't give up....
.....I'm not knowing how much you've looked into the USAF paper trail, but there are a number of things you can check. Being an adopted service brat and having researched info for benefits for my adopted mom, you'd be surprised what you may find. The postings are public record and many of the retirees are quite helpful if they know any info. Adoptions usually stick in their minds, as the wifes always knew of them and some of the men were pestered enough about adopting that it stuck in their minds(lol).

newfoundland adoption
Yes I spoke to Vicki Walsh. They did give me all the non id information but I need the names they received after adoption, including the new last name. Otherwise I can't even begin to look in the US. Imagine, even with the birthmother dead the siblings can't find sisters and brothers. It is unimaginable. But they do hold all the cards don't they? Wish I knew a sympathic person in the government there that could help me, but being in the USA I do not know anyone. Guess when they wrote the new law they neglected to remember all of the sisters and brothers that may be looking.

when you talked to viki walsh did she offer you a social worker?after my brother put in the veto i sent a letter to him through post adoption and asked viki if they could contact him to at least let him know he has a sister and ask if he wanted the letter i sent him.i dont think they are going to do it she just asked me if i wanted a social worker so i could talk about my fellings!!!i said no i dont want that all i want is for someone to let my brother know he has a sister.i know in the past some people went through social workers who helped track down people i cant get a straight answer on that either so basically i have given up the search it seems birth siblings have no rights and people who hold the cards just dont care.my brother and i have the same bilogical parents but without his adopted name ill never find him unless he goes to post adoption looking and why would he do that he filed a disclosure veto so he is not going to be looking for anyone anyway.all i know is ive done all i can do and im just letting it go it might be interesting to check out though if you can get a social worker to help you. talke care marilyn |

birth brother born nf late 1968
I AM NEW AT THIS SEARCH STUFF. I AM SEARCH FOR MY BROTHER BORN IN LATE 1968 AT ST. JOHN'S, OR PLACENTIA. I DO THINK THAT HE WAS ADOPTED TO THE US VIA A MILITARY ADOPTION.
I HAVE CONTACTED THE POST ADOPTIONS BUT NOW THEY ARE WAITING FURTHER LEGAL ADVICE BEFORE PROCEEDING WITH THE OPEN ADOPTION INFO. YOU CAN STILL GET YOUR BIRTH CERTICATE BUT THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO PROCEED WHEN IT IS A SIBLING SEARCH. THEY DON'T SEEM TO HAVE DONE THEIR HOMEWORK IN THAT DEPARTMENT. I HAVE A TOTAL OF EIGHT SIBLINGS AND THIS IS THE FINAL ONE (I HOPE). |

are you saying they might be able to help you at post adoption look for your brother?i asked if they could help me find my brother they said there was nothing they could do because of the new law and he filed a veto pertaining to his birthparents.i said i just want you to inform him he has a sister who is looking for him and i forwarded a letter to him through post adoption.i never got a reply from post adoption as to what they are going to do with the letter etc so i assumed they are going to do nothing.keep me posted if you hear anything else. marilyn |

veto
your situation is different than mine because of the veto.
there is no veto filed and i already know the rest of my birth family. they say i have to wait until contact is made with him because he is not registered at all with post adoptions. this is very frustrating up here because i have two children now old enough to attend college and i don't want them involed with family. its such a small island and anything is possible. i do know that my brother was born in december 1968. he doesn't know his surname either so that makes it hard. maybe he will apply for his original birth certifcate. |

sibling search
hi natalie
i asked post adoption if a social worker could help me as i know this was done in the past and all she said was i could have a social worker to discuss my feelings!!!my feelings are frustration i understand what the veto means but as i understand it that means no name released to birthparents.i dont even want them to give me any that info just let him know he has a sister and if he wants the letter forward it to him.if he dont want any contact with me than so be it.all post adoption said is we will keep everything on file if he ever looks here.ive done all i can and im just letting it be if anything comes of it ill deal with it then.i know you cant let this stuff consume your life whatever happens or dont happen so be it thats the way im looking at it now. marilyn |

Birth mother found
Hello again,
I received a call today from Post Adoption Services indicating that they have located and spoke with my birth mother. I can't believe how fast this has happened and all because I sent my information in to Post Adoption Services. They obviously do not have that much of a back log in search request. I would reccommend that anyone who has received their adoption record and original birth record to contact Post Adoption Services. The search that is supposed to take at least 5 years has been completed for me in a week! Obviously, I have a lot of emotions going through my head right now. My birth mother was very emotional as well and is interested in making contact. It's getting very real now! Good luck everyone! |

Hi its Natalie from NFld.
Sounds like you are in for some good luck Barry. I hope that you enjoy your birth family. I did meet mine about 5 years back now and except for this brother born late 1968. I do know the rest, as we are a total of eight children. F |

post adoption
hi everyone
today i got a call from post adoption in nfld telling me that they cannot help me in my search for my brother because he has placed a disclosure veto.unless he contacts post adoption himself they are unable to help me.so thats where it will stand i have sent a letter for him to post adoption and they cant even forward it to him or let him know they have it.this ends for me unless he ever decides to contact post adoption himself.my mom is not in very good health and with the recent veto placed on his info her health has gotten worst so we will not be doing anything else im afraid because of her health condition .i hope everything is going well for all who have found and are searching. marilyn |
