Hi,
My name is Mike. I have full legal and physical custody of my 5 year old daughter. Recently my daughters biological mother said she would Relinquish her Parental Rights to my daughter, and that my fiancee (we share a 1 year old son together) can legally adopt her. Does anyone have any insight as to where I should begin? Any and all responses are greatly appreciated.

First you should obtain a voluntary termination from the courts and have you daughters mother sign it. Once her rights are terminated you can proceed with the step parent adoption. Usually this is done through the county, but the courts can guide you in the right direction.

in riverside county the probate court does the adoptions, and it cost 20 bucks to file the paperwork and get an adoption court date. i bet san b works similarly. if you call the probate court, you should be able to get an adoption packet that has all the forms you need for your situation. you can also check out this website:
