How Long?
I have heard diff things concerning how long the adoption process takes. I am trying to adopt my step son and the paralegal that is helping me told me it could take 6 months. I am in Madera county. I hope it doesnt take over a year! Anyone know?

It depends
It totally depends on the load of DCFS and the courts in your county. If they are not backed up, you might actually be done in 6 months. Ours took two years from filing but that was in So Cal and things were pretty backed up. If you have the absent parent consenting to the adoption it will go faster than if you have to terminate parental rights.

I terminated the rights of the father and it took us 10 months. I just wanted to ask why you do not want it to take so long. It is going to take as long as your county takes.
