Smile Just had first meeting with lawyer and need advice

All looks well for us since bio has not been in the picture for almost 2 years. Lawyer said they no longer look at wage garnished child support as contact and there is nothing written that says we have to be married for 1 year and it is entirelly up to the investigator and we have been living together for over 2 years. He also said i our county it is only taking about 3-6 months to do these adoptions.

My question is: when the inspector comes to your house do they look at your "child proofing"? My kids are 4 & and we don't have any child locks and all the medicines and poisons are up in high places. Is this okay?

I am in Butte County and my lawyer just did a case where the guy was paying child support, never paid anything towards the back except what was assigned by the courts, he never volunteered any money.

In Butte County they say there is no excuse to not keep contact with a child when you can write a letter and mail it for .37 cents so not being able to afford it doesn't count and being forced to pay child support doesn't count because they are forced to do it.

In my case BF is only paying back child support to the state, yet is not paying me anything. My attorney said we are going to claim he is not paying child support. He should be paying me also. Now the home visit. Do not worry about it. I expected her to look at everything. I went crazy cleaning my house. Well she only asked to use the bathroom because she really had to go. They look at it this way. The child or children already live there and well it is not child protective services or trying to place a child there. the child already lives there. I would not worry about the safty locks for the visit I would however worry about the possibility of my children getting hurt. You always think it is not going to happen to you and it does. That is a conscience matter though.

Well if he is paying the state then the money should be going to you first.

My child support worker said as long as I was not on welfare all money comes to me first and after all back support is paid they will pay state. Are you recieveing welfare?

We have nothing that they can hurt themselves on and even our knives re where they can't reach but I will be having a baby soon so out comes the locks anyway.

Thank you for the response.

Not on welfare anymore, I was. He is paying the money welfare gave me back. So it is back support to welfare not me. They did not reenact another support order because it got lowered down to zero when he was incarcerated. So the child support needs to be looked upon as his idea and he aint giving. He thinks my husband makes enough money to support her, his exact words.
