Okay my ex hasn't seen his kids in 10 months and was paying child support due to contempt but lost his job on Decemer 31 and I got the last check the first week of January. He won't contact the DA (I am in Butte Co, he is in Sacramento Co), won't return their calls, won't respond to letters.

The DA can't file a 270 (criminal contempt) for another 60 days (he has already gone through civil contempt and is on probation) and then it just keeps going on another long haul for support.

How long after he stops paying child support (even though it has been 10 months sence he has seen them) can i file for abandonment?

What happens if I go get to file for abandonment and then he start paying after the fact. If you file abandonment does his child support stop?

I am getting married in September and my fiance wants to adopt, can I approach my ex before our one year of marriage about adoption or do I have to wait. If he says sure I will sign papers do I have to wait or can we do this faster?
