abandonment
I recently bought the book Do Your Own CA Adoption Nolo's Guide for Stepparents and Domestic Partners. The book says to file the ADOPT-200 form and file an abandonment petition. The CA adoption handbook doesn't say anything about filing an abandonment petition. What should I file? Should I file the ADOPT-200 form and then wait and see or just go ahead with both forms? I'm almost positive this will be a contested adoption on the maternal mothers part.

Abandonment forms
You get the forms you need from a court clerk. You have to know what kind of abandonment form though.
Read CALIFORNIA FAMILY CODES 7820-7829 AND 8604. If you find an abandonment definition that fits, you request a form for that family code. Hope it helps. |
