Process

We have our Live Scan tonight and our first interview next week. Finished up PRIDE in October.

When we start in July they said it would take 4-6 months total, when I talked to our SW last week she said probably another 6 months before we get our license and who knows how long for a placement.

What about you?

We're going to the adoption orientation on 11-19 so we're brand new to it. Pride schedule isn't updated with any new class schedules so I'm hoping that we'll find out in the orientation when we can sign up for Pride.
Is it your SW holding up the process or just the process itself taking longer than expected?

It's the whole process. Everything has slowed way down because of the budget crisis here.

At Orientation we were told the 4-6 months. Than at the Adoption Application workshop that worker told us 12-18 months.

You kinda get used to figuring everything is going to take longer than they tell you. Also you'll probably never get the same answer from more than one person.

Are you looking to foster to adopt? I would say it will probably be 8 months if you are able to get into PRIDE pretty quickly. (To get your license that is)

We are REALLY hoping to have kids by the school year next year.
We want a sibling set and are fairly open (though we are hoping for the younger side)

You are wanting to do a straight adoption?

not in OC but Riv. I finished everything right before the budget crisis/cuts...however, the placement that my sw thought I would get quickly has started to drag....I was told that this is due to all the different furlough days going on with everyone and the courts....seems to have hit all counties pretty hard.

I think we're wanting to do a straight adoption.. What are my other options? Foster-to-adopt?
