Do visits decrease after term. services and TPR Q?
(xpost)
Hello All, I was speaking with my cw yesterday about terminating biomom's services. She said the court will most likely terminate her services (we've been in court on this for 3 months now!). So I asked her what will happen to the visits if her services are terminated. And she told me they will stay the same at one time per week. I thought they could be reduced (to a minimum of one time per month). I was really looking forward to a reduction in the visits. Maybe I don't understand what terminating services really means to the department. I mean she's in rehab so they really aren't giving her any services besides the visits anyway. What were your experiences after services were terminated? Did anything change? Also, do they automatically schedule TPR once they terminate services? I think in CA they have to schedule TPR within 120 days but I don't know if that's true. What happens if between terminating services and TPR date biomom really works her plan, does DCFS just elect not to got to court for TPR if they can't prove their case any longer? Do they just drop the TPR and schedule another review hearing for the 12 or 18 month mark? (BTW this is still the 6 month hearing even though child has been in care 11 months.) |
